Congratulations! You have just become a new pawrent of a furry bundle of joy!
With the joys of a puppy comes responsibility. What you do early on in your puppy’s life can make a HUGE difference. It can make the difference between your puppy growing up to be a fearful, anxious or reactive dog or growing up to be a happy, confident and well-adjusted dog.
So what can you do to help your puppy become confident, friendly and well-adjusted?
All puppies bite. They are not being aggressive or nasty or deliberately trying to hurt you. It’s just how they explore their world by using their mouth! I know what you’re thinking… that’s all very good that puppy biting is normal BUT those puppy teeth are needle sharp, and they hurt! Yes, they do! So what do you do with a puppy that bites?
I’ve noticed a lot of controversy and mixed opinions about whether to crate your dog or not. There are LOTS of benefits to crate training but only if done properly otherwise it can be downright cruel to your dog. I’ll briefly explain when crating is KIND and when it’s CRUEL so that YOU can decide for yourself what’s best for you and your dog.
